If you can, try to budget everything at one time for the kitchen renovation to save increased costs of doing something later - except appliances - as long as you plan to give enough space for an appropriate size appliance like a fridge, etc. - as they can be easier to replace - unlike ceiling lights, flooring

Counter advice 101, if you are considering replacing your counter with quartz or granite and then do the cabinets a few years later - don't! It's unlikely you will be able to un-glue the counter from the cabinetry without damage to your counter. And with technology used today to have the counter run along walls near to perfection - it's likely during a renovation the counter will not line up perfectly again.

The popular white kitchen cabinet - it just never gets dated. And goes with so many tones - red wood floor, taupe quartz counter, satin nickel finish hardware - one of the most versatile colours in kitchen design

When choosing a kitchen design you need to consider not just the space but work flow. A peninsula could have been incorporated but it would have become an obstruction between the kitchen prep area to the kitchen table in this rectangular kitchen space

Having a large space to renovate leaves lots of room to create spaces with different functions - a beautiful area to take phone calls and notes to the left and the extra fridge to the right with extra pantry storage.

With the lighting in this picture you can see that the cabinetry is not too dark, we moved the bar stools away from the peninsula to show that the finish is actually a rich warm stain on maple. If the kitchen budget allows, take advantage of 9' ceilings by adding extra storage but keep the look balanced by using two doors for the upper cabinets - here the client chose glass doors at the top.
